Honda isn’t exactly Honda electric cars for sale, but it has trailed competitors in selling volume battery-electric vehicles. That could change with the 2024 Prologue, which rides on GM’s (GM) Ultium platform, but is designed by Honda through and through. It starts in the upper $40,000s and has a projected 300 miles of range.

It’s also the first EV to use the Honda-designed and developed NEXV powertrain. The system provides “a sophisticated driving experience that is infused with unique joys” that aren’t possible in traditional gas-powered vehicles, according to the manufacturer. A single-motor version of the Prologue delivers up to 296 miles on the EPA, while the dual-motor Elite gets an estimated 288 miles.

Both variants can charge to 80 percent capacity in about 30 minutes using DC fast charging. And the Prologue’s battery is covered by an eight-year/100,000-mile limited warranty.

In addition, owners will be able to take advantage of home installation incentives and public charging credits conveniently managed through the HondaLink app.

Honda plans to expand its electrified lineup with additional EVs in the future. Its current lineup includes the Civic and Accord hybrid models, the HR-V, CR-V, Pilot and all-electric Prologue sport utility vehicles, the Ridgeline pickup and Odyssey minivan. The brand’s full line of clean, safe and fun vehicles is sold through more than 1,000 independent U.S. Honda dealers.
